Belief. Passion. Desire. Determination. Commitment. Sacrifice.

These are the core values inside the Real Salt Lake locker room, the values upon which our success will be built, descriptions of the character we demand from every individual that walks through those doors. Nothing but the utmost adherence to these tenets is tolerated.

On the eve of our 2009 home opener – against the defending MLS Cup champion Columbus Crew – I take the unprecedented step of asking you, our fans, to help us establish the most dominant home-field advantage in Major League Soccer. The electricity in Seattle last week was outstanding, but my mind and heart still revert to the unforgettable energy in the air last Fall when we opened Rio Tinto Stadium. Inside the locker room, our collective focus continues to hone us as a cohesive unit, for us to think and react at a quicker speed of play, for us to pressure our opponent, for us to compete as ONE – together. You, our fans, the best in MLS since day one, are part of that singular focus. You are part of our heartbeat. That each and every one of you share the same values – Belief, Passion, Desire, Determination, Commitment and Sacrifice – motivates every player, coach, and administrator in the RSL organization to forge ahead and redouble all efforts to emerge victorious. You know my personal credo, "Fortune Favors the Bold." I believe this in my heart of hearts, and we ask you to be bold Thursday night and every game night at Rio Tinto Stadium. All of us – fans, players, coaches, supporters – everyone who grows the game of soccer, those who serve as the engine for the burgeoning soccer culture in the U.S. and specifically in Utah – should display this boldness proudly, and through the values stated above, fortune will shine brightest upon us.

We need your help!

As we start off in 2009, we are determined to increase all efforts to create an even more inspiring and intimidating home field at Rio Tinto. There are places in every sport, in every country, where the 'other' team hates to play. WE ARE THAT PLACE! The Loyalists will always be found in sections 11 and 12 at Rio Tinto Stadium, singing, drumming and cheering our team on. Of course we love it when people come over to join us in our enthusiastic support of Real, and all are welcome, but realize that doesn’t work for everyone. For those of you who sit elsewhere in the stadium, please take every opportunity to build an environment of enthusiastic support in your section. There are no more dead spots. If you sit nearby, join in the songs and chants when you can hear them. You'll find the words to most of our chants here. We are working to get to a point where there are stretches in every game that the full stadium is filled with songs of support, win, lose or draw. The players love it. The fans love it too. Let’s have some fun!

Loyalists Home in 2009

The Loyalists home at Rio Tinto stadium is in sections 11 and 12, with the full South end being devoted to fan and supporters groups. View map here. Those who spent time with us last year can tell you that this is the place to be at game time.

We believe this location gives us several new advantages, including:

Members Only ticket pricing so everyone can join in with us -- only $275 per seat
A much better view of the field where everyone can stand and everyone can see
A location central with other fan clubs which will maximize our influence on home field advantage
The perfect spot for harassing the opposing keeper and defenders -- rendering them useless
A location separated from fans who might prefer to see us "sit down and shut up"
More shade and no sun in the eyes
A place we will brand as our own

If you haven't renewed your membership yet this year, now is the time. Season tickets in sections 11 and 12 are available to current Loyalist members only. Even after paying your dues, you'll still have the least expensive seats in the stadium. Dues can be paid on our website using PayPal, by mail, or in person at any event.

Welcome to The Loyalists website

Loyalist Shield The Loyalists are Real Salt Lake’s original supporters group. If you know what a soccer supporter is, then you know that we are here to be the loudest and craziest fans in the stadium. If you love RSL, and you want to help them win, then come make noise with us, and help us give them a real home field advantage.

We accept everyone, and we want anyone who has enthusiasm. Got a drum? Come bang it with us. We play drums and chant encouragement for our boys the whole 90 minutes plus. Got something else? A trumpet? Bagpipes? Maraccas? A tambourine? A triangle? Whatever come join in the song. Got nothing but your voice? We need those too. Come be a part of something great.

We wave flags, wear our colors, and we never sit on our hands. We want excited fans that come to a game to have fun and to yell! Stand and shout for RSL. In our section, no one will yell at you and tell you to sit down and be quiet. We'll yell at you to stand up and make MORE NOISE.

We've even got a giant sized flag that we pull up over our heads after goals. It's so big it can be seen from orbit...or so I've heard.
